Zhibing Yang obtained his PhD degree in hydrogeology from Uppsala University, Sweden in December 2012. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Earth Sciences, Uppsala University from 2013 to 2014 and a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2014 to 2016. He joined the Department of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering of Wuhan University as a faculty member in 2017.

Dr. Yang’s research focuses on multiphase flow and transport in disordered geological media and coupled hydro-geomechanical processes, with applications to a range of important geo-environmental engineering problems, such as contaminant remediation in groundwater aquifers, water infiltration, geothermal exploitation, oil and gas recovery, and geological storage of CO₂.
