Prof. Shenglian Guo graduated in Wuhan University (1982) and awarded his Ph.D. in National University of Ireland (1990). He is professor of hydrology and water resources at Wuhan University since 1993. He also serves as chief editor of Journal of Water Resources Research, and 3 national academic journals. He is also the adjunct professor of five universities. He is honor chairman of Chinese National Commission for International Association of Hydrological Science (IAHS), a fellow of Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences (NTVA).
Prof. Guo has devoted in investigating the complex underlying mechanisms in water resources system, covering the topics about design flood estimation, hydrological simulation, ensemble flood forecasting, mega reservoir operation, adaptive water resources management and water-society system nexus. He is a highly respected and well-known scientist in China, and has a close collaborating network with Chinese water-related sectors, such as Yangtze River Water Resources Commission. Prof. Guo has led over hundred projects in hydrological fields, numerous of his works have been widely acknowledged.
Prof. Guo has supervised about one hundred graduated students and has published more than 500 academic papers, including 170 peer-reviewed papers on international journals such as Nature Communications, Water Resources Research, Journal of Hydrology, etc.
Until now, 18 patents, 12 books and have been published; 16 research projects have received Science and Technology Advanced Awards or honnors in China.
